On Friday 16th December 2016, members of the Basildon Borough Twinning Association joined Stephen Metcalfe MP and some of the gymnasts from Team GB 2016 – Max Whitlock, Brinn Bevan, Jay Thompson and Reiss Beckford – to give out presents to children in the hospital. The lads brought their medals and were happy to pose with all the members of staff, as well as the children, for photographs.
Generous donations allowed us to buy lovely gifts for each child, as well as an X-Box and games, books and baby mobiles for the wards.
Our visit coincided with the ringing of the bell by one little girl in the oncology department to celebrate the end of her chemo treatment. Her favourite character, Disney’s Ariel, arrived to chat to her and help her ring the bell.
Thank you to Stephen Metcalfe for organising the donations, members of the twinning association for purchasing the presents and wrapping them, the gymnasts and trainers and to everyone who donated so generously. Thanks to the members of the hospital for looking after us.
